Flash Applications
To be clear, flash is an excellent tool that compliments a website. That said, we would stress it is a ‘tool’, not a platform.
It makes as much sense to build an entire website in flash, as it does to build an entire house with hammers. The hammer is a tool that helps build an infrastructure. Just the same, it is not advisable to build an entire site in the adobe flash language. Flash is a tool, not a building block. It has terrible Search Engine Optimization results, is very hard to manage and edit (not dynamic), not to mention expensive.
Our experience has shown that flash is something the user should elect to see, or choose to activate. This means those flashy intros with the skip button at the bottom of the page (sometimes called splash pages) we also discourage. It adds an unnecessary barrier between your users and the content they wish to see, and the search engines see little if any content, so it hurts your Search Engine Optimization results.
We convey this to you because there are many firms that charge a hefty price for flash sites. This is an injustice to the client because they are buying form over function and over invest literally in a ‘flashy look’.
So in short. Flash has its purpose and its place, and rest assured we have the team and talent to pull off any Rich Internet Application and more importantly apply it in a strategic way.
